“In a Fantasy About War I Turn Into a Child”, 2024
Caught between here and somewhere else, I wake each morning
with the need to put on a shield, denial, longing, or courage.
Drifting from the past, I find myself suspended in the fragile now.
In the fantasy of war, I am a child, waiting for someone to set things
right.
A gravestone-kite rises among blue plastic flowers, death and play
entwined. This work speaks to survival, resilience, and the hope
carried by children across every border, navigating the in-between
of memory and presence, loss and life.
